Top Manipuri Maoist leader arrested in Bihar; Brought to Imphal

Acting on the information, a team of Manipur Police proceeded to Bihar to arrest the members of the banned organisation. Assisted by Patna police, the Manipur police succeeded in arresting the three top rebels leaders from Hardinge road, near Patna junction late night on August 8.

Chairman of Kangleipak Communist Party (Maoist), Sapam Kangleipal who was arrested on August 8 from Patna, Bihar was brought to Imphal on Sunday.  

Briefing media at the conference hall of superintendent of police Imphal west, DIG Range 1, Themthing Ngashangva said that a highly reliable classified information was received that Kangleipal @ Chinglen @ Sarat along with finance secretary of Kangleipak Communist Party (people War Group) Wahengbam Thoi Luwang@ John @ Thawailakpa and other active members of KCP (PWG) were hiding somewhere in Patnam Bihar.

Flanked by Sub-inspector Amitabh Arambam on his left and SI Premchand on his right, Kangleipal arrived at Imphal International Airport on Sunday.

DIG further said that Kangleipal (38) s/o Sapam Shyam Sunder of Nongada Thongkhong, Imphal east is a wanted proclaimed offender who had escaped from the security ward of JN hospital, lodged for medical treatment by Jail Authority of Sajiwa jail on the intervening night of December 28 and 29, 2008. Kangleipal was then lodged at Sajiwa jail vide order no. Cril/NSA/31 of 2008 dated May 3 2019 of district magistrate, Imphal West in connection with FIR No. 129(5)2008 IPS under section 124 IPC, (PS Act 1953, 8(1) of Assam maintenance of PO Act 1947.

Kangleipal is a declared wanted Proclaimer Offender in Cril. Misc Case No. 179 of 2013 and Cril Misc. Case No. 275/ 2013 with reference to FIR No. 44(8) 2008 PRT PS under section 224 IPC added under section 20 UA(P) A. Act.
