Centering an incident of attack on the members of Karbi Student Association and activists of Youth Front having affiliation with regional political party Autonomous State Demand Committee at Kheroni locality of West Karbi Anglong, massive reparation have crop up across Karbi Anglong and West karbi Anglong.

Police of West Karbi Anglong meanwhile have arrested around twenty five persons. After massive demonstrations by activists of Karbi Student Association and All Party Hills Leaders Conference, District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong Madhumita Bhagwati held a meeting with the students body Autonomous State Demand Committee and appealed for maintaining peace and harmony.

Section 144 has been promulgated all across Karbi Anglong prohibiting all kinds of public demonstration, meeting rally, procession, giving inflammatory speech and anti national activities.

The same section has been imposed in and around all examination centers conducting HSLC examination in Karbi Anglong district by the district administration.

Meanwhile members of All Party Hills Leaders Conference have called for shutdown of all business establishments for an indefinite period in both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district from today.

In the meantime senior leaders of ASDC including Jotson Bey in a press conference held in West Karbi Anglong have made it clear that ASDC have not called for any Bandh or shutdown of business establishments.

The Autonomous State Demand Committee and Karbi Students Association have demanded eviction of all settlements from the Village Grazing Reserve and Professional Grazing Reserve located in various places of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has called an official meeting to discuss the issue of Village Grazing Reserve and Professional Grazing Reserve on February 19.

The sudden call for an indefinite period of Bandh and shutdown of business establishments has jeopardized normal life of both the districts. The students appearing for the HSLC examination are facing hardship in appearing for the examination.

It is worthwhile to mention that people living in Village Grazing Reserve and Professional Grazing Reserve of West Karbi Anglong are demanding land settlement of the reserve area and the issue has been opposed by Karbi Student Association and Youth Front wing of Autonomous State Demand Committee.

The organizations held a protest demonstration in the Land Revenue office of Donkamukam and Jenkha area of West Karbi Anglong yesterday and one of the groups while returning from demonstration came under attack in Kheroni area.

In the clash around six student and youth activists received injuries. They were admitted to Diphu Medical College yesterday night.
