Imphal : In a show of unity, various tribal communities and Meiteis have urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to take legal action against MLA Paolienlal Haokip for allegedly forging documents and demanding a separate administration to be carved out from Manipur.
Representatives from tribal Civil Social Organisations (CSOs) met with the Chief Minister, condemning the forgery of their signatures in a complaint filed by MLA Paominlen Haokip with the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).
They demanded that the complaint be rendered null and void. The Federation of Haomee, a Meitei community outfit also submitted a memorandum to the CM, urging the state government to address MLA Haokip’s appeal for a Separate Tribal (Kuki Hills) State or Union Territory.
They demanded a formal clarification from the government and legal action against Haokip.CM N Biren Singh assured the representatives that he stands resolute with the indigenous tribes of Manipur, emphasizing the state’s unity in diversity.
He vowed to address the concerns and take necessary actions.
