Tripura CM holds review meeting with industries department

The Chief Minister said that if a well-planned industrial policy is made, the industrial entrepreneurs of the country and abroad will be encouraged

AGARTALA : The state has huge potential for industrial development. Therefore, the government has taken various initiatives to develop the Industries. The Department of Industries and Commerce needs to take new plans to attract more industrial entrepreneurs to invest in the state. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this in a review meeting of the Department of Industries and Commerce yesterday.

In the review meeting, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on creating an industrial policy that would attract investors. The Chief Minister said that if a well-planned industrial policy is made, the industrial entrepreneurs of the country and abroad will be encouraged.

Minister of Industries and Commerce Department Santana Chakma, Chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Nabadal Banik, Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Santosh Saha, Chairman of Tripura Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Bolai Goswami, Chief Secretary J.K Sinha, Principal Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce KS Shetty, Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. P.K Chakraborty, Director of Industries and Commerce Department Vishwasree B along with senior officials of the concerned department were present in this review meeting held at secretariat.

In the meeting, Chief Minister reviewed various programmes of the Department of Industries and Commerce and emphasized on regular monitoring of the ‘SWAAGAT’ portal launched for the convenience of investors in the state. He said that the infrastructural facilities developed in the state should be delivered to the investors. In this regard, he advised the Department of Industries and Commerce to be more proactive.

The Chief Minister said that in view of the upcoming North Eastern Global Investors Summit, potential areas of investment in the state should be highlighted in the roadshows held in different states. In the meeting, Chief Secretary J.K Sinha said that the development of the state will be accelerated if the investment in the industrial sector increases. So he lays emphasis on efficiently managing ‘SWAAGAT’ portal.

In the meeting, Director of Industries and Commerce Department Vishwasree B presented the steps taken in view of the various decisions taken in the last meeting of the department through PowerPoint presentation. She informed that 4 projects are being implemented in the state at a cost of 35 crore rupees under the flagship scheme of Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti programme of the central government. Initiatives have been taken to implement 2 more schemes in the current financial year.

Director Vishwasree B also informed that Tripura has been categorized as the ‘First Mover’ state in the implementation of PM Gati Shakti scheme.  Director of Skill Development Sanjay Chakraborty mentioned about various programmes of the department and informed that 3709 young men and women have already been employed in various organizations from short-term training under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
