Leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar today claimed that BJP came to power with many promises for youth with the slogan of let’s bring a change. But, in the last 58 months, the current government has brought the state to the brink of destruction. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the country’s youth power in a similar manner to come to power in 2014. He promised to provide jobs to two crore unemployed people a year. Nothing was done. They are betrayers”, said Sarkar.

He was speaking at a joint rally organized by Centre for Indian Trade Unions, a frontal wings of the opposition CPIM at Swami Vivekananda stadium. The gathering was organized with the demands of restoration of democracy, establishment of rule of law, work and employment.

“Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have visited the state several times, he had said nothing about unemployment. They have snatched away the jobs of 10,323 teachers. So far 148 out of them passed away due to trauma”, Sarkar claimed.

The former Chief Minister also raised serious allegations against the government on payment of TSR Jawans. “Three battalions of the TSR were sent out due to non-payment of salaries. Their families are very helpless today. Salary is not being paid properly. Due to the lack of teachers in the school, classes are not being held.

The health department is in dire straits. People had to spend money from their own pocket to buy essential things like cotton, medicines, even needles. The last 58 months have been a curse in the history of Tripura”, claimed Sarkar.

CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on there other hand claimed that the nature mother did not like the drama staged by the ruling party for befooling common masses through ‘Jana Biswas Yatra’ starting from two legs of the state on January 05 last due to which, a thick fog has covered the entire state.

“Today, you people have come here, the sky has become clear and the sun rays have become bright. Your presence is the proof of the voices of the entire Tripura state. Working class people from different professions have staged several rallies, meetings, given deputations for getting fair rights.

Today this public meeting is not for deputation because this government deaf and dumb. This government don’t have the ability and desire to listen to the voices of working class people. Their politics, their programmes have taken away the rights of working class people along with masses from every section across the state.
