Tripura police seizes brown sugar from Dhaleswar

Agartala: Acting on a tip-off the officers and jawans of East Agartala police station last night seized a big but unspecified quantity of deadly Brown Sugar drug from a shop in Dhaleshwar area of Agartala.

The officer in charge of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee said that as part of the continuing drive against drugs , two persons Rajesh Chakraborty and Dipak Debnath had been arrested in connection with the drug peddling and storage of drugs in a shop.

He said that the two nabbed culprits are being produced in court today and remand for interrogation will be sought .

During the past five years Tripura has emerged as a major corridor and even consumer of dangerous drugs being imported from Myanmar through Mizoram and Assam and part of it is also exported to Bangladesh. Sources in police said that the drive against drugs and ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) will continue until the menace is neutralized.
