Imphal : Under the directive of the Supreme Court of India, an expert team from the national capital will visit to look into relief and rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking shelter at different relief camps owing to the ongoing ethnic violence in this strife-torn state.

This was informed to the governor of Manipur A Uikey by the Chief Secretary Dr. Joshi in a meeting at the Raj Bhavan on Monday night, a communique said on Tuesday.

Regarding relief materials distribution, CS said that all efforts are put in by the state machinery to ensure all the relief items are received by all the inmates, and in some cases, relief materials are being transported through different routes or by helicopter.

The District Commissioners (DCs) are instructed to monitor the price of the essential commodities, especially from the private traders by involving local CSOs and civil supply officers concerned, CS asserted.

Governor while taking stocks of the pre-fabricated houses set up at different places, instructed for completion of the set-ups at the earliest as it will ease some of the problems faced by the IDPs. Governor further highlighted on the importance of providing nutritious foods for pregnant and lactating mothers and children in relief camps. Highlighting the continuous efforts extended through the Governor’s Secretariat, the Governor said that she will further extend maximum assistance to the IDPs.
