Imphal: With a view to assessing the ground situation in Manipur union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai has visited the state along with national spokesman of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) Dr Sambit Patra on Friday.
Rai has met Governor Anusuiya Uikey and assured her of all sorts of assistance from the Central government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
It needs to be stated here that union home minister Amit Shah is set to visit the troubled state on May 29. The Governor apparently discussed all the measures that have been taken so far by the security establishment for the purpose of bringing the state back on its track, sources said.
Meanwhile, sources from union home ministry said that during his visit, the union minister will meet chief minister N Biren Singh, ministers, MLAs, and leaders of the civil society organisations of various communities to find solutions for the restoration of peace in the violence-hit state.
