Diphu – Karbi Anglong police have gunned down wanted robber Shahidul Islam involved in timber smuggling in a pre-dawn operation in Thakarajan area under the jurisdiction of Bakulia police station; around seventy kilometers from Diphu today.Police have informed that based on specific information about the presence of the robber’s gang in Thakarajan they mounted the operation and around 1.30 A M, this was followed by a fierce exchange of fire.

Eventually police gunned down the wanted criminal Sahidul Islam. He was declared dead by attending doctors when brought to hospital.Police have mentioned that Shahidul Islam was involved in various crimes in both Karbi Anglong and Nagaon district.
