Hitting on the Congress party and particularly on former Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh Asnikumar highlighted that the hardships endured by the people of our state during his prolonged tenure, while he may have forgotten, the people of Manipur certainly have not
Reaffirming that the BJP, under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands unequivocally for progress, inclusivity, equality and the welfare of all citizens. The governance agenda of our Prime Minister is firmly rooted in the principle of ‘Antyodaya,’ which prioritizes the upliftment of the most marginalized individuals within our socio-economic strata, echoed M. Asnikumar Singh , Spokesperson BJP Manipur Pradesh & Chairman Loktak Development Authority, Manipur, here today
Hitting on the Congress party and particularly on former Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh Asnikumar highlighted that the hardships endured by the people of our state during his prolonged tenure, while he may have forgotten, the people of Manipur certainly have not.
The exploitation of Manipur’s unrest for personal and party gain by him and the Congress party is nothing short of reprehensible. Let us not forget the 1,528 extrajudicial killings that occurred in our state between 1980 and 2011 under Congress rule, with the CBI currently investigating 97 instances of such killings between 2000 and 2011, during his tenure as CM.
Further he highlighted that ‘there is no need to delve far into the past to recall the frequent bandhs, rampant corruption, extortion, and the mistreatment of Manipuris under the shadow of AFSPA during his rule’. He stressed upon and said that at that time, even twelve hours of electricity was considered a luxury.
The BJP spokesperson pointed out that it was the BJP, not the Congress, that removed AFSPA from most parts of the state, ushering in a new era of hope, peace, prosperity, and progress.
While acknowledging the current atmosphere of conflict, he assured that the BJP is committed to resolving issues amicably, taking into account the sentiments of the people of Manipur. The Manipur Congress would do well to revisit their history books, wherein they would discover that the seeds of the present conflict were sown by their own short-sighted policies aimed solely at securing electoral victories, disregarding the long-term development of Manipur.
Under the BJP government, Manipur is charting a course towards progress—a path that is inclusive and empowering, fostering support for young entrepreneurs, financial inclusion, and the empowerment of women, artisans, and individuals from all walks of life, including supporters of the Congress party. Many Congress supporters are benefiting from schemes like CMHT, demonstrating that the BJP’s governance extends to all, Asnikumar further stressed.
During the Congress regime, even Ima Loktak was not spared, becoming a mere pretext for their profiteering. I refrain from elaborating further as the matter is pending in court, but I speak from first-hand knowledge as the Chairman of LDA. Lies and propaganda seem to be the hallmark of the Congress party, Asnikumar retorted.
Contrastingly, the BJP is not only opening the doors of development to our state but also actively promoting Manipur’s rich culture, traditions, and history both domestically and internationally. The renaming of Mount Harriet, the third highest peak in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to Mount Manipur by the Home Minister Amit Shah stands as a tribute to the valour of Manipur’s freedom fighters, shedding light on the sacrifices of Yuvaraj Tikendrajit Singh, Thangal General, King Kulachandra Dhaja Singh, and other 22 freedom fighters of the Anglo-Manipur war of 1891, he reminded.
Today, as we grapple with conflict, it is imperative that we tread cautiously to ensure the attainment of lasting peace in our state. However, the Congress party seems intent on politicizing and exploiting the present situation for their own gain. I am confident that only the BJP has the capability to address the challenges faced by the people of our state and propel them towards peace and prosperity said the BJP spokesperson.
