Wild jumbos wreak havoc at Krishnapur village in Teliamura

These villages are always affected by wild animals but the forest department is doing little to give them protection

Agartala: A herd of wild elephants entered Krishnapur village under Teliamura Police Station and destroyed several houses rendering families homeless. The herd of elephants entered the village late in the evening and continued their rampage throughout the night forcing the people to stay hiding in the forest.

Receiving the report Ranjit Sarkar, a member of the Khowai Zilla Parishad went to the village in the morning and talked to the villagers. He assured the families of the necessary compensation.

These villages are always affected by wild animals but the forest department is doing little to give them protection. Recently a group oif people blocked the road at Chakmaghat demanding protection from wild elephants and assurance were given but nothing has been done.
