City patriots paid tribute to the freedom fighters, patriots, poets in different places of Shillong
On the occasion of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” the city patriots paid tribute to the freedom fighters, patriots, and poets of the Nation in different parts of Shillong. They started their journey from Brookside at Rilbong Shillong where Rabindranath Tagore stayed in October 1919 by the lightening of the lamp, giving floral tribute to Gurudev Tagore and singing the National Anthem.
They visited the State Central Library and paid tribute to the poet U Soso Tham. After that, they visited the heritage sites at Oakland where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose stayed at Kelsal lodge in 1927 and at Ashley Hall in 1938. They visited the heritage site RKMVCC, where Swami Vivekananda delivered his last public speech in April 1901. Also paid tribute to Brahma Samaj Mandir at Police Bazar.
The citizen visited and paid tribute to the memorial at Laban Batti Bazar where Swami Vivekananda stayed in 1901. Also visited Bidhan Bhawan/ Circuit House at Laban, the last stop where Netaji Stayed in June 1929 and Rabindranath Tagore visited in 1923. They visited and paid tribute to Jitbhoomi where Rabindranath Tagore stayed in 1923. They Paid tribute to the statue of Netaji at Rilbong field.
The journey concluded at Brookside with National Anthem and remembered all the great personalities of the State of Meghalaya in particular and the nation in general.
