Assembling of a crowd at any place will not be allowed

Keeping in view upcoming festivities in connection with Mahalaya and Biswakarma Puja on Thursday, the Cachar district administration has imposed certain restrictions.

In an order issued to this effect here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority, Keerthi Jalli, stated that movement of more than three persons in a group on the roads on Mahalaya morning is restricted. Assembling of a crowd at any place will not be allowed. However, people can move on the roads in small groups comprising a maximum of three persons. Wearing of masks and maintaining physical distancing have been made mandatory on both occasions. 

The order also stated that people will not be allowed to roam about or gather on both the bridges (old and new) located at Sadarghat from Wednesday 9 pm till Friday at 6 am. Entry will be strictly restricted at these bridges for preventing gathering.

Biswakarma Puja shall also be celebrated with maximum 15 number of persons and congregation at any place will not be allowed.

Distribution of wet food (prasad) is not allowed by any Puja Samiti. However, packed prasad (dry food only) are allowed.

No decoration of pandals, lighting and roadside stalls will be permitted, the order stated. 

However, pitri-tarpan is allowed on the banks of the river maintaining all COVID-19 protocols. Violation of this order will attract punitive action, the order warned.
