The 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Commander-in-Chief of the Azad Hind Fauj was celebrated with due dignity in Dima Hasao.
Apart from the district headquarters Haflong, Netaji Jayanti was celebrated at Jatinga, Harangajao and Langting also.
At Haflong attending the ceremony as Chief Guest Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa hoisted the Azad Hind flag at District Library Auditorium premises.
CEM Golosa was accompanied by EM Nandita Gorlosa, Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, MAC Liton Chakraborty, Principal secretary Mukut Kemprai and others.
At 11 a.m. in Haflong, a spectacular procession with Netaji’s portrait was taken out from the premises of the district library auditorium with the initiative of the Netaji Central Committee. The procession goes around the city.
CEM Debolal Gorlosa paid homage at the portrait of Netaji at the Haflong District Library. Garlosa said the armed revolution of the Azad Hind Fauj led by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose took away the sleep of the British rulers. And that revolution later brought independence to the country. He especially urged the younger generation to follow Netaji’s ideology.
At Jatinga, Sameer Majumder, principal of Haflong Government Girls HS School, hoisted the Azad Hind flag in front of the only Netaji statue in the hill district. Besides, Rajatkanti Nath, president of Haflong Welfare Association and Vijay Gharthi, village head of Jatinga Nepali village also paid homage at the Netaji statue.
On this day, Raju Acharya, the sculptor of Netaji statue in Jatinga was felicitated with a sari and a certificate.
Dima Hasao Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad handed over more than 100 masks among the students, teachers and villagers of the school. Rajatkanti Nath, acting president of the council, Pankaj Kumar Dev, general secretary, Ashish Dutta and Prithish Bhattacharya, assistant secretary.
