Airport Authority of India, today donated to three organisations of Silchar Assam who are involved in frontline activities in the present pandemic environment. An amount of thirty thousand was given to each of the organisation.
Cheque of Rs.30,000/- handed over to Manabendra Dev Ray, SP Cachar for procurement of masks, sanitiser, etc for Police officials of Cachar District.
Cheque of Rs.30,000/- was handed over to Sumit Satawan, in-charge of Silchar Municipality for procurement of masks, sanitiser and other protective equipment for Municipality workers of Silchar who are our CovidWarriors
Cheque of Rs.30,000/- was also handed over to the Silchar Press club for the welfare of reporters and media person of Silchar. In a simple function the President, Bijoy Krishna Nath, General Secretary, Shankar Dey, Treasurer Chinmoy Nath received the cheque on behalf of the members of the club.
Pradip Kumar Gorai, Airport Director, Silchar Airport handed over the cheques along with Arnab Kumar Das, OSD to APD, and Mohit Kumar, CSO, AAI Silchar Airport.
Welcoming the officials of Silchar Airport at the Silchar Press Club, General Secretary Shankar Dey stated that the social role played by Airport Authority for various activities in the past as well as at this present crisis is inspiring and appreciable.
He assured that Silchar Press Club shall work closely with AAI in the future also.
Airport Director informed that he is concerned about the lockdown and how it is affecting people around the airport and thus they are procuring around 8MT of rice and shall distribute among the needy people in and around the airport area so that no one should go hungry.
They will also provide musks and sanitiser to the taxi drivers and nearby shop owners.

Airport Authority feels inspired by the selfless service by the reporters who are braving the pandemic and bringing news to the public.
He also informed that under the CSR project of AAI led by the Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director of NE region has taken the initiative in all the 12 airports and they intend to do further activities.
He said that airports of NE has started thermal screening and self-declaration form long back in the month of February and believes that this could be one of the reasons, NE India is having very few numbers of cases.
Earlier Airport Authority had donated Rs. 8 Lakhs to Arogya Nidhi fund.
Chayan Bhattachaejee, Executive Member of Silchar Press Club thanked AAI for taking the initiative to come forward and outreaching the journalist community.
