Cadet Dimpi Bora has exhibited the values of a responsible citizen and her actions and empathy are commendable and truly worthy of the ethos and spirit of NCC
Cadet Dimpy Bora of Nowgong College under 8 Assam Battalion NCC, Tezpur Group, while going to college noticed an old lady sitting alone on the side of the road. In the afternoon when Cadet Dimpy was returning from college, she again saw the lady sitting at the same spot, in distress. Realising something amiss, she stopped and enquired about the matter. The poor old lady revealed that she has been abandoned by her adopted son.
Cadet Dimpy immediately informed Col Amar Singh, the Commanding Officer of 8 Assam Battalion NCC, who sprung to action to coordinate assistance for the old lady. He immediately apprised Mr. Trideep, ASP Nagaon, and Ruby Kalita, the District Welfare Officer, both of whom reacted swiftly and positively.
A few other cadets were tasked to fetch some tea and water for the old lady, who was very weak and hungry. Cadet Dimpy along with Cadet Busmita Das and Cadet Rishi Bora waited on the spot, till the NCC unit support team fetched up to organise the rescue of the lady from the spot with help of Nagaon Police and District Welfare Officer.
The lady was comfortably lodged under the arrangement of the District authorities. Sincere efforts are on to locate her kith and kin.
Cadet Dimpi Bora has exhibited the values of a responsible citizen and her actions and empathy are commendable and truly worthy of the ethos and spirit of NCC.
