The regional political party, the Autonomous State Demand Committee, which has remained skeptical of the BJP since the mega rally held at Loringthepi village attended by Premier Modi on April 28 has said that ‘the Autonomous State issue is just an election tool of the BJP’.

President of the Autonomous State Demand Committee, Chandra Kanta Terang told the media yesterday that the motive of the BJP has been obviously specified all through the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Karbi Anglong district.

Chandra Kanta Terang has alleged that on April 11 the party wrote to Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong Dibakar Nath to allot time to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the Autonomous State issue, but he didn’t retort anything officially.

Chandra Kanta Terang also mentioned that on April 27th they met the Principal Secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Mukul Kumar Saikia and he too didn’t respond properly, as the last option they meet the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang.

Ronghang responded positively and assured that he will organize a meeting with the Prime Minister however their request was rejected like the other organization the ‘Karbi Anglong NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee’, both parties did not get consent to meet the Prime Minister.

Chandra Kanta Terang has accused that since 2014 the BJP is deceiving the people of Karbi Anglong on this issue and they have no policy for the Autonomous State issue their position on the Autonomous State issue is only for winning elections.

Jotson Bey, General Secretary of the Autonomous State Demand Committee disparaged the Prime Minister for not giving time to meet their party. He mentioned that the Prime Minister is the executive head of the country so he should have spared time to meet the people.

Jotson Bey said that previous Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani had time to meet the public but Modi has renounced from meeting leaders of other political parties and organizations.
