Tribute paid to Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla and Purushottam Das
KOLKATA : Bishnu Rabha Diwox was observed in Kolkata at an event in Assam Bhawan organised by the Kolkata Assamese Cultural Association. Tribute to Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was paid with prayers and by lighting memorial lamps and floral offerings.
The event was anchored by General Secretary Indukalpa Saikia where tribute was also paid to Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla and Purushottam Das.
Executive President Hiten Hatkhowa presided over and presented a brief view on the legendary artists. Manash Sarma spoke on “Bishnu Rabha Through Different Views” and his literary, cultural, political and social contributions that has a impact on society for decades.
Sumadhur Goswami presented poetry whereas Kashmiri Kotoky performed a song of Bishnu Prasad Rabha. Gitanjali Goswami and Indukalpa Saikia presented a poem and a song of Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla respectively.
A song written by Purushottam Das was performed by the soulful duet of Indukalpa Saikia and Kashmiri Kotoky. While remembering the legends for their diverse contribution towards the art and culture of a society it also gives us a platform to put up the skills of the young enthusiast in such occasions, stated Publicity Secretary Sanjeev Baishya.
The evening was summed up with Bisware sondae sondae and everyone present at the event joined in to perform this song.
At the conclusion, Treasurer Manash Jyoti Borah thanked everyone in his speech for planning some time out of their busy schedule for the occasion and acknowledged the part of the organisers and the Assam Bhawan in presenting a wonderful evening of music.
