In the video, Salik was seen speaking the languages while trying to sell souvenirs to a tourist in Cambodia. He is a student at the Hailiang Foreign Language School in China.
A Cambodian boy named Thuch Salik became an Internet sensation, after a video went viral, showing him speaking at least a dozen of foreign languages. Salik, surprised everyone with his multilingual ability. Salik will be studying at Hailang Foreign Language School after a businessman decided to sponsor his education.
Salik’s video that went viral showed him speaking in multiple languages as he tries to sell souvenirs to a Malaysian tourist in Cambodia.
He could speak multiple languages and dialects of languages including English, Mandarin, Japanese, Thai & French.
Reportedly he only knew one language when he was 11 and picked up the rest over three years while trying to sell souvenirs to tourists at the Angkor Wat. The money that he earned was spent on his and his sibling’s education and to repay his family’s debt.
A Cambodian businessman was impressed with this 14-year-old’s talent & decided to sponsor his studies. The 14 year old will be leaving home to a foreign country. On his arrival in China, students and staff members of the school welcomed Salik at the airport. They presented him with flowers and even danced for him.
Khit Chhern posted on his Facebook that he hoped that Salik would “struggle” as he did and he would become a good citizen.
