A memorandum submitted to Amit Shah by Manipur unit of CPI, termed the statute
as as anti-secular and anti-constitutional.
A protective mechanism shall be formulated to safeguard Manipur while implementing the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), informed Yumnamcha Dilipkumar convenor of Manipur People against CAB (MANPAC) which was assured by Union home minister Amit Shah when he met on Tuesday late at night with leaders of various political parties active in Manipur, student bodies and civil organisations of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland including MANPAC.
To protect the influx of uncontrollable flow of illegal migrants, the nine-member delegation of MANPAC , strongly pressed during the meeting, that the statute should not whatsoever be extended in Manipur.
Ningthouja Lancha, the MANPAC spokesperson stated that Home Minister’s assurances would be taken up with the people of the state and after that a resolution would be taken in order to chalk out next course of action.
Yumnamcha Dilipkumar is of the opinion that, despite the Home Minister’s assurance, people should remain on high alert particularly the leaders who are against the statute.
