Demands for the statue of ‘Dimasa Legend’ at AU ripe in progress

A memorial meeting on the occasion of the 138th death anniversary of the great freedom fighter from the region Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo was organized at the premises of the Assam University Silchar on Friday, as dignitaries, students and faculty members paid their utmost tribute to the revolutionary and the son of the soil who laid down his life for the greater interest of the Dimasa people along with that of the entire nation. An instrumental force, which had always been in loggerheads with the British imperialists, the great martyr left no stones unturned when it came to making the ultimate sacrifice for the soil.

Speaking on the occasion that was attended by Deputy Commissioner Cachar, Keerthi Jalli emphasized the need of building a youth force that is progressive in order to culminate the seeds of nationalism laid by the great leader of the region. While expressing full support towards administrable support for the cause of Dimasa nationalism along with its greater impetus on following the path of development and social-congregation, she further boosted the morale of the youth to remember, follow and tribute the path of selfless acts that the forefathers have laid in order to build a larger picture of a prosperous nation.

Former DHD Chairman and the current member for the MOS implantation for the group, Dilip Nunisa, while emphasizing the importance of youth participation in laying the foundation of a better tomorrow said, “The responsibility of the youth is akin to the great leaders of the past, be it in revolutionary measures or the educational documentations of the glorious history of the past which is also contemporary in the present situation or be the active participation in forming a better world for tomorrow.”

The Vice Chancellor of Assam University Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath emphasized building a ‘National Character’ rather than implementing ways on personal gains. The eminent education was clear on delivering the message of universal unification for all walks of life when it comes to the betterment of the society and the overall development of the oppressed.

A memorandum was handed over to the Vice Chancellor by the President of All Dimasa Students’ Union (ADSU), Karuna Barman, regarding the prayer for establishing the statue of the Dimasa National Freedom fighter, Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo at the premises of the Assam University.

Encouraging the fact and motive of the enthusiastic students and the members of the Dimasa society and the student union, ACKSHA advisor Rupam Nandi Purkyastha said that in order to build a peaceful and a developed society for tomorrow, the youth must take lead and preliminarily it must start with recognizing the due sacrifices of the great leaders of the past and paving a better path for tomorrow.
