Kuldeep Singh, Security Adviser to the Manipur government on Monday claimed that the law and order situation in this strife-torn state is much better and announced that large-scale combing operations at sensitive locations across the state would be intensified until the weapons snatched from the police station and outposts amoury have been recovered.
Addressing a press conference at the Durbar Hall of the Manipur Chief Minister on Monday, Kuldeep Singh said that the intensive and extensive operations would be continued in the districts affected by the ongoing communal violence until the weapons taken from the police armories are recovered. Over 6,000 weapons of different types and 6 lakh ammunition were snatched by miscreants in the ongoing communal violence at different locations. The operations would mainly be carried out in the districts of Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal East, and Imphal West where the communal carnage is still reported.
He also disclosed that on the first day of the massive coming operations conducted at Jalemkhul village of Churachandpur district, one mortar, 1 launcher, 1 carbine, 4 country made pistols, pumping guns, and gunpowder were recovered on Monday. In the valley district of Thoubal, the combined forces and police launched operations at Yairpok Warou hills, 1 SLR with a magazine, and a grenade were recovered, he said.
