Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has expressed concern over issues related to Bangladesh and criticized the government for the recent disruption in parliamentary proceedings.
Speaking to reporters, Gogoi emphasized his party’s commitment to raising significant domestic and international matters in the House, highlighting that the Congress has consistently voiced its concerns over such issues.
On the stalemate in Parliament, Gogoi stated, “Parliament would have functioned from day 1 itself, had the Government accepted the Opposition’s suggestion. On the first day itself, the Opposition had suggested that there be a two-day discussion on the Constitution in the House. But for some reason, they didn’t listen to us, and for five days, Parliament’s time was wasted.”
He further alleged that the government misled the House and demanded an explanation for the delay in facilitating discussions. “They will have to clarify why they misled the House,” Gogoi added.
The Opposition has been pressing for debates on critical national and international issues, including India’s relations with neighbouring countries like Bangladesh.
Gogoi reaffirmed the Congress party’s intent to hold the government accountable and ensure that important matters are addressed in Parliament without further delays.
