Dima Hasao celebrates 72nd Republic Day with great enthusiasm

With rest of the Nation 72nd Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the district of Dima Hasao with the central celebration at the Kendriya Vidyalaya  ground, Sarkari Bagan and was organized by the District Administration on Tuesday.

CEM Debolal Gorlosa hoisted the tricolor in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Paul Barua and Superintendent of Police, Jayant Singh IPS and host of guests during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Debolal Gorlosa, stated that it was indeed a matter of pride to address on the 72nd Republic Day of the Nation. He requested all present to be better citizens and encouraged all to stay united regardless of caste and creed to ascend India to a superpower in every way.

Speaking about the development of the district, he said the challenges earlier faced by the people in Dima Hasao are gradually being attended and solved under the current government with continued effort by his team at the Council and guidance from the Assam Chief Minister and leadership of the abled Prime Minister of the India.

“Dima Hasao which is one of the oldest council of our nation, we will make sure that Dima Hasao Autonomous Council is not just the oldest but the best council in the entire nation”, reiterated CEM Gorlosa.

Addressing the crowed he informed that, the unemployed youth of the district with lesser educational qualification are being encouraged for farming, for which ample number of various saplings such as areca nut, sandal wood etc. are distributed. Speaking about the growing number of successful candidates in Dima Hasao during competitive exams such as CCE conducted by APSC, NEET-UG medical entrance etc., he said that education sector is tremendously improving under the present government. Number of residential schools such as Ekalavya Vidhyalaya, Model Degree College, Model residential school and many others, are being started thus improving the educational scenario esp. in rural areas of Dima Hasao.

During the  programme unveiling of the foundation stone for water supply scheme from Watahdong River near Retzawl village to Haflong town was done under MLA’s signature project- Uttoron Scheme implemented by PHE department. This will be a tremendous relief for the people of Haflong during the dry season, as every year there is severe water crisis faced in the town.

After the programme ended at the field, CEM Debolal Gorlosa along with his Executive Members and Members of Autonomous Council attended the programme of distribution of appointment letters to the newly recruited officials under the Forest Dept.

The programme began at the field with the arrival of the chief guest, Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC, S after which Shahid Tarpan was offered followed by inspection of the parade contingents and guard of honour. Unfurling of the tricolor was done by the chief guest, after which students sang the National Anthem.

Other dignitaries who attended the programme were MLA B B hagjer, Chairperson Ranu Langthasa, EMs Samuel Changsan, Amendu Hojai, Lalremsiama Darnei, Nipolal Hojai, Paudaming Newme, Nandita Gorlosa, Ngamrothang Hmar, MACs and other officials from various departments.

This year the celebration was conducted keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocol, due to which no cultural programme was organized at the field.  Before heading to the central celebration CEM also attended programme of honouring the national freedom fighter, Veer Sambudhan Phonglo’s statue which was organized by the local organizations near the statue at Haflong town.

While the tricolor was also unfurled in other parts of the district, Civil SDO, Manojyoti Kutum hoisted the flag at Maibang, Disru field and addressed the crowd.
