In a press release issued to the media, the Foothill Naga Joint Action Committee stated that it is constrained to issue the statement that some illegal immigrants and refugees have wreaked  Havoc or normal life of Nagas in the Leimakhong area in recent times.

Further, their statement stated that amidst the prevailing situation, Nagas in Leimakhong area tolerated the ‘goondaism’ illegal immigrants/refugees with the belief that they could mend their ways as they are supposed to be fellow Christians.

It added, that despite repeated warnings thugs of these illegal immigrants in  Leimakhong area have been involved in waylaying  Naga travellers to rob, extort and orchestrate mob attacks on Naga properties.

They did not even spare looting the properties of the houses of worship or churches in Leimakhong Chingmang areas, informed the committee release.

‘Showing scant regard to our humanitarian gesture and kindness of giving free passage in Naga areas which is the only lifeline of their survival these illegal immigrants and poppy planters have wilfully engaged in one wanton provocation and carried out organised theft of properties belonging to Nagas in  Leimakhong areas. To our utter shock and display instead of containing the robbery and theft perpetrated on November 30th 2024 under the nose, the so-called Leimakhong  Area Protection Committee insulted the Nagas of  Leimakhong areas with a derogatory remark which is a provocative and direct challenge to the Nagas as a whole;, the press statement mentioned.

‘It may be reminded that on June 18 2023 where in Naga house in Leimakhong was burned down by the illegal immigrants/refugees with full knowledge that it belonged to the Nagas,  a criminal case against the perpetrators is still pending in the Sekmai Police station, they informed.

Ultimately the committee issued a warning stating ‘if this gang of illegal immigrants and poppy planters fails to mend their ways then we will leave no other recourse but to take the appropriate action as and when necessary’.
