M. Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and Senior Spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh, extends his heartfelt wishes to the athletes and sports persons of Manipur on the occasion of “Sanaroishingee Numit (Players’ Day) 2024” through his social media post. He articulated his thoughts by stating:

“Manipur has always been a sporting powerhouse, and sports is an integral part of our culture. From ancient times, our land has been synonymous with athleticism and sporting prowess, with traditional games ingrained in the very essence of our cultural heritage. Today, as we celebrate ‘Sanaroishingee Numit’, we not only pay tribute to our rich sporting legacy but also reaffirm our commitment to nurturing and celebrating the talents of our athletes.

On this auspicious occasion celebrating sportsmanship, let us all pay homage to Manipur’s rich heritage of traditional games, deeply rooted in its cultural fabric. From the exhilarating Thang-Ta, where martial arts meet artistry, to the graceful Sarit Sarak, each game reflects the spirit and resilience of Manipur’s rich and diverse tradition.

We also honor the trailblazers who paved the way for Manipur’s sporting glory. Shri Pangambam Nilakamal Singh, the first Olympian from the state, carved a path of excellence that inspired generations to come. Alongside him, we salute other veteran Olympians and sportspersons who have left an indelible mark on the sporting landscape, igniting the flames of aspiration in Manipur and beyond.

From the iconic Kunjarani Devi, whose weightlifting feats continue to inspire, to the remarkable Dingko Singh, whose boxing prowess captured the nation’s heart, their legacy lives on as a testament to the power of determination and perseverance.

As we celebrate Sanaroishingee Numit (Players’ Day), let’s cherish our cultural heritage, embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, and honor the legacy of our trailblazing sports icons who have lit the path for current and future generations. Wishing everyone a joyous and empowering Sanaroishingee Numit.

I also take this opportunity to wholeheartedly appreciate our Hon’ble CM, Shri N. Biren Singh, for announcing the appointment of our state’s daughter, Naorem Roshibina, as Deputy Superintendent of Police, in recognition of her recent achievements in the international arena, on this auspicious day. Such actions will inspire many young athletes in our state to persist in their journeys.

I firmly believe that the future of sports in our state is bright. However, we must embark on a collective effort to harness sporting talents at the grassroots level and nurture them into the sports stars of tomorrow. By investing in comprehensive sports development programs, providing state-of-the-art facilities, and offering expert coaching and guidance, we can create an environment conducive to the growth and success of our budding athletes. Through sustained encouragement and support, we can unlock the full potential of our youth, paving the way for a brighter future where Manipuri athletes shine on national and international stages, bringing glory to our beloved state and our great nation.”
