Ganesh Chaturthi also is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is one of the important Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with great devotion. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on Shukla Chaturthi of the Hindu month of Bhadra (generally falls between August and September).

This festival is celebrated by Hindus with great enthusiasm. People bring idols of Lord Ganesh to their homes and do worship. The duration of this festival varies from 1 day to 11 days, depending on the place and tradition.

In India, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in the grandest form in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and parts of Andhra Pradesh, though in most of the parts of the country it is equally popular. Outside India, it’s widely celebrated in Nepal’s Terai region, and by Hindus in the UK, US, and Mauritius, etc.

1893 freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak gathered everyone to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in one large group to inculcate the feeling of patriotism at a time British people issued orders restricting social gatherings.
