Manipur | Jiribam Police seized drug worth around 25 Lakh, One held

Continuing the call of Manipur’s Chief Minister ‘War on Drugs-2.0’, the Jiribam District police along with a team of Narcotic cell, Jiribam led by ASI A. Krishna Sharma had seized 316.62grm of drugs, suspected to be brown sugar from the vehicle plying from Imphal towards Jiribam yesterday at around 11:30 pm late night.

As per the police report, a team of narcotic cell, Jiribam under the supervision of AK. Sadananda Singh, Addl. S.P (Ops), Jiribam, and the guidance of Ksh. Ravikumar Singh, Superintendent of Police was conducting routine frisking and checking of vehicles plying along NH-37 at Leingangpokpi village near the office of the driver union. While doing so, one Toyota INNOVA white in colour bearing Registration No. AS01AW-9570 was stopped for checking. On checking of the vehicle, 25 nos. of shop caps containing suspected brown sugar wrapped with green colour polythene bags each were found inside the skimmed fuel tank of the said vehicle which market price estimated around 25 lakh.

Later, the seized items were sealed in presence of witness and the apprehended driver identified as Md. Azamir (26yrs) S/o Md. Azman, aresident of Sora Mamang Mayai Leikai along with the vehicle was handed over to Jiribam police station for taking necessary legal action.
