Regional political party Autonomous State Demand Committee has demanded through the media that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should declare autonomous statehood for the sixth schedule tribes comprising the three autonomous hill districts of Assam during his Karbi Anglong visit and honor the thirty eight years old statehood demand
Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the preparedness ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Anlgong autonomous district.
The Prime Minister will address a massive rally at Loring village around 75 kilometers from Diphu, the headquarter town of Karbi Anglong Autonomous district on April 28.
The Chief Minister oversaw the venue of the rally along with Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, Hill Areas Development Minister Jogen Mohan, and Tuliram Ronghang Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council at Loring Thepi today. Himanta Biswa Sarma later told the media that he expects a fair gathering in the Prime Minister’s rally.
It is pertinent to mention here that in 1972 the then Premier Mrs. Indira Gandhi visited Howraghat and Dhansiri region of undivided Karbi Anglong district. In 2009 Dr. Monmohan Sing addressed a political rally in Baithalangso, now situated in West Karbi Anglong district.
The world’s most popular leader Narendra Modi will take part in the “peace and development convention” which has been organized officially by the Assam Government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
It is expected that around five lakh people will assemble at Loring Thepi from nearby districts along with the local population. Around twelve thousand vehicles have been lined up including private automobiles for mass carrying.
Numerous cultural troops each consisting of hundred artists will represent the ethnic mosaic of Karbi Anglong. Karbi, Dimasa, Towa, Garo, Bodo, and other ethnic communities will welcome Narendra Modi in their time-honored custom.
The autonomous council authority will showcase its rich ethnic diversity at the peace and development rally. The Premier will be welcomed by weaving around one lakh national flags.
