After the signing of the tripartite peace accord on September 4, all ultra organizations who were signatories of the agreement are disbanding their regular militia divisions since last week. Meanwhile, a number of organizations have split up their force formally as decided.

Two factions of Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger, who were the principal signatories of the extraordinary accord signed on September 4, disbanded their regular division which was raised on January 8, 2011; KPLT gathered a standing strength of 350 armed cadres during this period. In their eleven years of armed resistance, they have lost seventy-seven of their comrades.

After formal disbanding of rank and file of KPLT housed in two designated camps located in Kolonga and Bakulia locality a few days back, today the Ron Rongpi faction of KPLT split up their division formally by retreating their regimental banner and publically burning four hundred sets of camouflage olive green tunic and trousers, which used to be their uniform during their struggling days. The emotionally charged ceremony took place in the Chutianala designated camp around five kilometers from Diphu.

Maintaining the legacy of the militant organizations intact, Lotichari Kangtang Bey alias Godwin Kro, apex leader of KPLT led the ceremony of disbanding their regiment. The KPLT banner was hoisted and later retreated for the last time with distinction. Cadres and leaders paid tribute to the departed cadres who died in action.

Lotichari Kangtang Bey later told the media persons that their democratic struggle for achieving an autonomous state will continue; he mentioned that they are satisfied with the accord. Bey declared that from this day forward KPLT leadership will not be responsible for any misadventure of its cadres committed in the name of the organization which stands disbanded.
