It is not a new thing but a repeat of the past to suppress the legitimate political aspiration of the peace loving citizen of North East India
Karbi Students’ Association (Thomas Rongpi and Simeon Rongphar faction) has condemned the incident of killing fifteen unarmed innocent civilians in Oling village of Mon district, Nagaland on December 4 at the hands of Para commandos of Assam Rifles.
Through a press release, the student’s body has mentioned that “we are deeply shocked and outraged at the brutal killing of unarmed innocent civilians who were later recognized as coal mine workers. As claimed in the press statement given by security forces “based on credible intelligence input of movement on insurgent groups, they acted upon” cannot be justified under any circumstances by any rational human being. No matter the intelligence input stand but the trained officers could have been cross checked several times to ascertain it accurately before”.
The release has also stated that “on behalf of KSA and peace loving citizens we extend our deepest sorrow and condolences to the families of the innocent victims killed in the horrific incident and send our message of support and strength to the wounded and to the victim families and to all the Naga brethren”.
KSA has alleged that repeated violations of human rights has taken place with the Nagas, Karbis in the past by Indian security forces, under the Indian government’s draconian AFSPA act which is mainly used against the peaceful citizens of northeast India.
The student’s body has leveled serious allegations against the Indian security force, they have stated that ‘in the entire AFSPA affected North-East states including the autonomous District Karbi Anglong it is not a new thing but a repeat of the past to suppress the legitimate political aspiration of the peace loving citizen of North East India. Ever since the draconian law of AFSPA has been imposed in NE states a number of instances of atrocities, even raped and unabated killing spree of innocent civilians at the hands of Indian security forces have taken place in the name of fighting insurgency.
Back in 2016, six Karbi insurgents were gunned down by Indian security forces in Karbi Anglong. However, out of six slain, three were turned out to be innocent villagers. Sadly the tragic incident got forgotten and vanished into the thin air, no investigation was ordered by the government. The release stated.
