Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma and Hills Area Development (HAD) Minister Jogen Mohan are facing the wrath of Karbi Students’ Association who are demanding introduction of Science and Commerce stream in different colleges of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong autonomous district.

The protest erupted after the introduction of the Science and Commerce stream to ten colleges of Morigaon, Baksa, Cachar and other parts of Assam which was announced in the Cabinet Meeting held at Haflong Circuit House, Dima Hasao district on Wednesday last.

Effigies of the dignitaries were burnt on Saturday last at Donkamukan, West Karbi Anglong autonomous district, where the protesters cautioned the Assam government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council chief not to play with the indigenous people in providing proper education. 

The student organization has demanded the introduction of Science and Commerce streams in colleges of West Karbi Anglong and Karbi Anglong autonomous districts which do not have science and commerce streams.

Semson Teron President of Karbi Students Association while stressing their demand has cautioned the authority through media that, if their stipulations are not complied they will resort to the democratic movement against the Assam Government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
