Lions Club of Silchar Lioness has been actively working in the areas of education, health camps, hunger relief, and clothing for the poor and the needy
In the last few weeks of June, the people of Silchar went through a very tough situation. People were trapped inside their houses, with no electricity, food, and clean drinking water. Due to a breach in an embankment, the town of Silchar was entirely engulfed by the water entering from Barak River in no time. The currents were heavy and people were scared for their life. However, everything must end, and this havoc also ended soon enough. Although, the after effects of the flood are still alive.
On 25th August, the Lions Club of Silchar Lioness organized a cloth distribution Program to aid the victims who were flood–affected. With the initiative of Shubhojit Mukharjee, the members of the Lions Club of Silchar Lioness came forward to make generous contributions.
People who are living their life in utter misery after the recent flood in Assam came forward to collect these clothes. 120 sarees along with blouses were distributed to the needy.
