Due to the remoteness of the Noney district of Manipur combined with harsh hilly terrain, the power infrastructure in the region is unreliable and vulnerable to frequent outages, affecting the daily lives of the villagers who reside in this cutoff region of Manipur.

Tamenglong Battalion under the aegis of 22 Sector/ IGAR (East) initiated a project in New Nungnang village in Khoupum Sub division in Noney district, with an aim of providing a renewable, perennial, and eco friendly means of power in the remote village. Under AR Civic Action Program, solar lights have been provisioned which will provide constant energy free of cost to the remote village.

The project was handed over to the villagers by the Officer Commanding of Awangkhul post of  Tamenglong Battalion on 06 Nov 22.

The secretary and village authorities expressed their gratitude to the unit for providing means of renewable energy, while at the same time ensuring safety and security in the region. A similar civic action project was handed over by the unit in Katang village of Tamenglong district last week.
