On 26 November, the troops of Assam Rifles intercepted nine Myanmar origin two-wheelers plying illegally in Indian territory along the Moreh – T’Minou – New Samtal road.
At around 11 PM in the night, troops carrying out area domination observed some motorcycles moving in the area. On being asked to stop, the riders abandoned the two-wheelers and fled across into Myanmar taking advantage of darkness and jungles.
On examination of the motorcycles, it emerged that jerricans carrying diesel were strapped on to each of them indicating an attempt at smuggling the same into India.
The seized items and the motorcycles were handed over to Customs Preventive Force, Moreh for further legal action.
