Imphal 13 Nov:  Manipur observed its first ever “Darkest Diwali” by shutting down all domestic house lights on the eve of the national holiday Diwali.

Most of the areas in the main city of Imphal, its roadsides shops, and localities were all dark. Only the vehicles had to use their lights to travel.

Talking to one lady at the biggest women’s market in the world ‘Ima Market’ expressed that she has informed all her kids settling outside the state to observe this Diwali by not celebrating.

Another non-Manipuri man expressed how even his family being from North India have decided not to celebrate it this time by paying tribute to those departed souls.

The message of Diwali means giving light to one’s life. But the present scenario has been stretched till this sixth ongoing month of unrest.
