Need for an awareness campaign on the issue by working hand in hand with CSOs and NGOs
A seminar on ‘Combating Child Trafficking’ was held on Tuesday at the DC’s Office Chamber of Pherzawl District under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM). The event was organized by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) with SCPCR and District Administration of Pherzawl in Manipur
The resource person of the seminar Hasby Haokip ASP stated that traffickers prey on unsuspecting families by making promises of education in Mission Boarding schools, financial support through jobs in foreign countries or mainland Indian cities which are not seen as ‘child trafficking’ by innocent parents from the hills.
Ch. Sachi, ADC Pherzawl identified the need for an awareness campaign on the issue by working hand in hand with CSOs and NGOs operating in the district. She also said that information should be disseminated to the masses in local dialects for better understanding.
