An advisory from Meghalaya police on Monday informed that in the name of buying old coins, scammers are duping people and that the public should stay alert of these old coins scams.

Sylvester Nongtnger, SP, East Khasi Hills stated that many complaints have been received in regard to a few fraudsters claiming themselves to be agents of ‘Indian Old Coin Private Limited’ and dealing in old coins who are buying the old coins for a huge amount of money.

SP informed that these fraudsters try to dupe the public by sending the victim a QR Code for online transactions. When someone scans the QR code, the money gets deducted from their bank account.

He appealed and advised the general public not to fall prey to such scams.
