These issues have impacted all communities in the state over the long run
Imphal : Meitei Leepun in a media release stated that Manipur has been in turmoil since May 2023 and that this unrest stems from the dedicated efforts of the current government under N. Biren Singh to monitor the illegal influx of immigrants, combat the drug trade, stop poppy plantations, and preserve the state’s reserved forests. These issues have impacted all communities in the state over the long run.
In this context, Alfred Kan-Ngam Arthur, the Outer MP from Manipur, is openly advocating for the destructive agenda of the illegal immigrant Kukis in the Indian parliament and elsewhere. His stance indicates a lack of support for the government’s efforts to protect the Indigenous people of the state and has made a mockery of the priceless lives sacrificed by those defending against external aggression threatening the national security of the country, echoed the press release from the leading socio-cultural organisation of Manipur.
Further, it stated that the illegal immigrant Kukis and Indian Kukis (brought by the British Raj as coolies) are unhappy with the government’s initiatives and have started a campaign against them. As part of their prolonged plan to carve out a “Homeland” in Bangladesh, Burma, and India, the illegal immigrant Kukis and their Indian Kuki kin joined forces and began a violent campaign in these countries.
They have selectively attacked the Indian Meiteis in Manipur, who had been peacefully coexisting with Manipur Nagas, Manipuri Muslims, Manipuri Gorkhas, and the Indian Kukis. The Kukis have burned down Meitei houses and killed innocent Meiteis in their conflict with the government.
The statement from Meitei Leepun stated ‘we strongly condemn his (MP, Manipur outer) actions. Consequently, the Meitei Leepun has decided to socially boycott him from July 31, 2024, for advocating the agenda of illegal immigrant Kukis.
