The Meitei Alliance, World Meetei Council (WMC), Manipuri in Kolkata (MIK), Delhi Meetei Co-ordinating Committee (DMCC), Assam Tripura Apunba Meetei Loop (ATMAL), Delhi condemned the brutal murders of six innocent civilians in Jiribam, Manipur on 11-November-2024 by Kuki Militant and demanded immediate justice.

Different Memorandum to the Human Rights Commission sent by the World Meetei Council (WMC) include a Memorandum to the Home Minister of India given by Manipuri in Kolkata (MIK) and a Memorandum to the United Nations.

A thorough investigation is demanded to protect the civilians in the region. Strong action against militants as well as support to the affected family is sought by these organisations.

‘The abduction and subsequent killing of these six civilians represent not only a horrifying violation of their human rights but also a disturbing escalation of violence against the Meetei people in the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur. The targeted nature of this attack, involving women and children, underscores the brutality and lawlessness that is increasingly prevalent in the region, stated the memorandum from WMC.

The Meitei alliance in a detailed report to the United Nations has appealed to address the gross Human Rights violations and terrorist atrocities in Manipur. It stated that the atrocities committed in Manipur are a grave violation of Human Rights and dignity. The targeting of innocent children and women in such a barbaric manner is a stain on humanity. Inaction in the face of such crimes is not an option.

Mutum Gunadhon, Secretary – Information and Publicity, CEC, World Meetei Council (WMC) in a joint media release shared the grievances felt by the region’s people and voiced their concern asking the government to act immediately.
