The Burma Campaign which consists of many campaigns and complex operations including the Imphal Campaign is part of the South-East Asian theatre of World War 2. It was primarily fought by the British Commonwealth, Chinese and United States forces against the forces of Imperial Japan.
In India, the forces of Imperial Japan was joint by Indian National Army under Netaji Subash Bose. It was here in Manipur that one of the greatest battles of 2nd world war was fought for nearly five months. To mark this greatest battle the 2nd WW Imphal Campaign Foundation had been organizing a series of commemorative events and reconciliation functions every year since a decade now.
War has left painful and bitter memories.
On this special 75th Anniversary of the end of 2nd World War, we remember those soldiers and civilians who were victims of the war. We appeal to every nation to reaffirm the principal aim of the United Nation to maintain international peace and security. We would also like to appeal to all States and international organizations to do their utmost to assist in implementing the ‘right of peoples to peace’ through the adoption of appropriate measures at both national and international level.
