Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources releases varieties of fishes numbering 1.76 lakhs fingerlings

Under the initiative of the Director, Kevisa Kense and Jt. Director Lottimenba, department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources releases varieties of fishes numbering 1.76 lakhs fingerlings comprising of Indian Major Carp (IMC) Rohu, Catla, Mrigal and Silver carp were released on 17th July 2020 at Doyang reservoir in Nagaland.

With an aim to enhance the fish stock and to uplift the livelihood of the fisherman community the department has initiated in releasing the fingerlings.

During the releasing programmed held at Doyang Jt. Director Lottimenba urged the fisherman to continue to strictly follow the mesh size regulations and control the use of dynamite fishing in the area. He also stated that targeted quantity to be harvested during the year through this initiative will be approximately 88 metric tons. The programmed was organized in collaboration with District Anglers Wokha Nagaland (DAWN)
