Nagaland Government Bans Unauthorised Collection of Money by NGOs and others

The State Government has issued instructions from time to time to prevent and curb unauthorized collection of money in the form of taxes/ membership fees /subscriptions /contributions /donations/ charges/levies/tolls or any other form of collection of money on state highways/national highway or market places by Unions/Associations/NGOs or any other private and community organizations by whatever name.

In this regard, attention has been invited to the Home Department’s Order No. CON-l/G/41/2011 dated 31st May 2012 banning illegal collections of money by unions, NGOs etc. and Notification No. CON-l/G/41/2011 dated 19th May 2022 banning the erection and operation of intra-state check gates and banning of any unauthorized collection at interstate check gates by any association/groups or private individuals. It has also been laid down that anyone indulging in any such illegal activities is liable to be prosecuted under Sections 188 and 384 of the IPC.

The respective district administration and police authorities have been directed for strict enforcement of the above orders.
