Vocational & Leadership training centre for adolescent girl dropout students under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Phadhao (BBBP) was inaugurated at Noklak on 19th March 2021.
A permanent centre to cater to the vocational training needs of dropout students was inaugurated at Noklak. Speaking as the Special Guest, DC, Noklak, Reny Wilfred, informed that the trainees will be trained in weaving, shoemaking, basket making, jewellery and bead making etc. where the raw material will be freely provided to all the selected and registered trainees. Each batch will have 20 students in the first phase of six months, and the number of batches will be decided based on the phase of learning, he added. The number of trainees has been limited due to space constraints and also with an intention to provide quality training. Microcredit schemes will be linked to talented trainees and marketing avenues will be opened up through the training center for finished products.
The DC mentioned that, in the leadership training center, library facilities will also be provided where books, computers and internet facilities will be installed in order to impart proper knowledge. Trainees will be taught leadership by enabling them to spend quality time in the center. He urged upon the trainees and the stakeholders to have ownership of the center.
SDO (C) Noklak, C.Phuniangstated that, the center is a humble beginning with a big vision of bringing economic empowerment of women in the District. He expressed his appreciation to the DC for the initialization of the noble project and also extended his gratitude to District Administration Tuensang for sparing the much-required fund to manage the center. He encouraged the trainers and trainees to take responsibility by taking it sincerely in order to realise the outcome from the training as envisioned.
President, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, M.Thango, in his speech, said, the training center is an opportunity for the girl dropout students to learn a new adventure for their livelihood. He called upon the trainees to get proper training and encouraged them to have the enthusiasm to learn. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to DCNoklak and District Administrations where the people are getting the benefits after becoming district status.
EAC, Noklak, Yithachu Thur, EAC Panso, Changsang Soted and President, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, Newkhai also spoke during the occasion. The programme was chaired by District Development Promoter, Chongkoi.
