Meghalaya authority and its citizens constantly bother in building roads, Border police posts, and any other activity initiated by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council
Regional political party, Autonomous State Demand Committee, Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong, Karbi Students Association through a joint memorandum has requested Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma to solve the inter-state border disagreement with Nagaland and Meghalaya as Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong as this two autonomous district of Assam share an inter-state boundary with Nagaland and Meghalaya. The memo was sent to the chief minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong on Tuesday.
.Chandra Kanta Terang later told the media at its office that Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong have nothing to take from Meghalaya and Nagaland as they have not taken their territory ever since 1951. The boundary of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong segregated and notified by the Assam government on April 13, 1951 should remain.
Terang alleged that within a span of forty years Meghalaya authority has built lots of roads and buildings within West Karbi Anglong with the consent of the Assam government, violating the constitutional boundary distinguished 1951 and adopted in 1977 while Meghalaya state was instated.
Terang also alleged that Meghalaya authority and its citizens constantly bother in building roads, Border police posts, and any other activity initiated by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
The organizations have requested the Assam government to expel all encroachers from the inter-state border areas, take custody of all structures and establishments made inside Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong constructed by Meghalaya or Nagaland in presence of Central government authority, to conduct a joint survey of Assam-Meghalaya and Assam-Nagaland border by Survey of India authority, construction of border pillars, construction of Assam police battalion base camp in inter-state borderline.
