The government is determined to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Sacred festivals like Raksha bandhan further strengthen this atmosphere of harmony. Chief Minister of Tripura Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating Raksha Bandhan at Ramnagar branch of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya University on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that Raksha Bandhan festival reminds us of the relationship and responsibility of siblings towards each other. People are bound by this bond since birth. Raksha bandhan festival not only strengthens the foundation of brother-sister relationship, this bond also reminds society of the responsibility towards every woman, including mother and sister. So the importance of Raksha bandhan festival is immense.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also said that the present state government has taken a responsible role in women empowerment and their security. 33 percent seats have been reserved for women in government jobs and 50 percent reservation has been made for women in allotment of government market stalls and shopping complexes. Various facilities have been provided in the field of education.
Resources have been earmarked in the state budget to provide free scooty to 100 female students on the basis of merit in Higher Secondary examination results. The government has given priority to make women members associated with self-help groups self-reliant.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has given special importance to the upliftment of socio-economic status of women as well as their security. Girls of the state are now proving their talent in various fields.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar and on behalf of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya University, Mamata Behenji also spoke on the occasion.
