Chief Executive Member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Debolal Gorlosa distributed rehabilitation grants to those affected families whose houses were damaged during the recent disaster in May and June in Dima Hasao.
The ceremonial programme was held on Saturday at District Library Auditorium, Haflong in which the senior secretary from Dispur, Arpan Saikia, was also present as per direction from the government.
Chairperson of NCHAC Ranu Langthasa, Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed and Superintendent of Police Mayank Kumar also shared the dais with the dignitaries during the programme.
A state wide programme was organized at Guwahati in which Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed Rehabilitation Grant through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to all the beneficiaries in the state. The ceremonial flag off of the Orunodoi month was also done during the same event.
CEM along with the dignitaries also felicitated ASHA workers with awards sponsored by the district administration of Dima Hasao. At least 94 numbers of ASHA workers received a token of appreciation for achieving 100% vaccination of both the first and second dose during the covid pandemic. CEM also announced a scheme under SOPD, by which deserving ASHA workers will be awarded scooty in each block. Also, one social worker Mewa Rymbai was felicitated during the programme for her dedicated public service in Haflong during the disaster.
Lauding the steps taken by the Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for the people who lost their houses or had been adversely affected during the flood and landslide, CEM Debolal Gorlosa offered his gratitude for always working hard for the benefit of this state. It is to be noted that from October onwards the amount of disbursement to the beneficiaries of Orunodoi will be enhanced to Rs. 1,250 from the existing amount of Rs. 1000. Recalling the ghastly past during the disaster month of May and June in Dima Hasao where precious lives and properties were lost, CEM Debolal Gorlosa thanked all the people of this district including the team of officials of both the district administration and the council administration for fighting together to bring back the glory of this district. He also said that with this effort he is confident that the district will soon be back to its earlier grandeur and even more.
Speaking about the ground reality faced while in process of enlisting the deserving people in this district, CEM said that most of the people in interior villages do not yet have any documentation in order to process to benefit under various schemes offered by the government. He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries of the Orunadoi schemes to also encourage such people to come forward for maximum benefit.
Chairperson Ranu Langthasa also praised all the people from all walks of life and profession for standing together in difficult times of the natural calamity. Highly spoke about the zeal and determination of both the administrations in council and district administration by she said appreciation has poured in from all sides for great coordination in public service in bringing and restoring the district to normal condition.
The programme began with the lighting of the holy lamp followed by a welcome speech from Nazreen Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner which was followed by a speech from senior secretary Arpan Saikia and SP Mayank Kumar. The ceremonial flags off of the Orunadoi month were also done. Others present during the programme were Principal secretaries Thai Tsho Daulagupu, Mukut Kemprai, HOD, beneficiaries and media persons.
