A new house made of tin has been built up in the same place where Swami Vivekananda stayed 121years back at Batti Bazar Laban Shillong during his visit to East Bengal and Assam in April – May 1901.
As per information available, the historic holy place is now under litigation. Yesterday Malabika Bisharad an author from Shillong visited the site and was surprised to see the new look of the place where Swami Vivekananda stayed at Batti Bazar Laban Shillong house no 115.
It is very surprising if the land is under litigation how can one build a house? Moreover, the whole land has been cleared and one stair has been built, echoed Malabika out of her concern.
The Memorial Plaque of Swami Vivekananda is standing as a mute witness carrying the history of the place till now. The plaque was installed by Ramkrishna Mission in 1963 – 64 during Swami Vivekananda’s birth centenary.
People of Shillong worship Swami Vivekananda during his birthday along with Ramkrishna Mission in this place.

We sincerely object this kind of offence to the Holy place and request the Administration to take proper action against the miscreants .
