Silchar lineage youth gets Ph.D. from DU

Vivek Das received a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the University of Delhi under the supervision of Prof. Firasat Hussain.

His thesis deals with the synthesis of new types of heterometallic metal-oxygen complexes which possess magnetic applications and luminescent properties.

He was born and brought up in Delhi. His parents hail from Muraligram, Ghagrapar-II, Salchapra, Cachar, Assam.

His father Bidhan Chandra Das did his schooling at Janaki Charan High School, Kalinagar, Katakhal and graduated from Guru Charan College, Silchar, Assam in 1978. He was General Secretary of GC College during the period 1976-77.

He initiated the task of construction of GC College Auditorium. His father came to Delhi in 1982 and worked in the Ministry of Communications and the Department of Telecommunications. Finally, he retired as Additional Deputy General Manager from BSNL (HQ) New Delhi.

His mother. Sujata Das also graduated from GC College, Silchar in the year 1987. Thereafter, she got her B.Ed. degree from Silchar.

His achievement will be an inspiration for other aspiring students from North Eastern Region. The young scholar believes in the teachings of Swami Vivekananda who said – “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man”.

He is interested in the teaching profession.
