In India, Teachers Day is celebrated on 5th September to honour the teachers for their contribution to the society. It is the birth anniversary of the second President of the country, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr. Sarvepelli Radhakrishnan who became President of India in 1962 was a staunch educationist, renowned diplomat and a great teacher. As a mark of honour, his students wanted to celebrate his birthday. But Dr. Radhakrishnan wanted his students to celebrate the day as Teachers Day. The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan’s love for the teaching profession. He believed that “teachers should be the best minds in the country.”

Since then, India celebrates the day as Teachers Day where students pay reverence and gratitude to teachers for their noble effort in shaping their careers.

Teachers are the people who inspired us to be better human beings, to believe in ourselves and do the best we could possibly do in everything we tried.
